Alpaca Royal is the perfect combination of luxury, nature and sustainability. It is a wonderfully soft, delicate, hard wearing yarn made from pure alpaca wool. Listed as Superfine/Fingering weight yarn, Alpaca Royal is incredibly light and soft.
The term "Royal" is used to describe the alpaca fibre that has a diameter of less than 19.5 microns. Only the best young white alpacas found in the Andean highlands of Peru have such fine hair. In order to be able to offer the beautiful range of natural colours found in our palette, we have made a blend of the white alpaca royal fibre with 20 percent soft baby alpaca.
This 2 ply yarn, which is spun in Peru, is fine and similar to cashmere. Its lightness along with its generous yardage makes Alpaca Royal go a very long way. A sweater will take little more than 250 grams. It is ideal for light, warm tops. It is also perfect for accessories like scarves or shawls. It has excellent heat regulating properties and is extremely soft on the skin. Because alpaca contains very little lanolin, it is perfect for people with the most sensitive skin.
Tip: It is advisable to always order enough yarn for your desired model to ensure you knit your entire project with yarn of the same dye batch. In case of doubt, please make a gauge sample immediately after receiving the yarn. In this way, you can estimate whether you have ordered sufficient quantity and, if necessary, reorder directly.
