Auf die Nadeln geschaut: Nepal - Pascuali

Putting the Spotlight on: Nepal

If you don't immediately think of the terms delicate and soft when you combine linen and cotton, you can learn something better with our Nepal yarn.

If the terms delicate and soft don't automatically come to mind when you think of a linen and cotton blend, you should try Nepal. The yarn is offered in fine 50 g skeins.  It has a pleasant feel and is surprisingly soft with a delicate sheen and a subtle shimmer.

This wonderful vegan yarn is made of 60 percent organic cotton and 40 percent linen from Nepal – therefore, it´s name.

Due to the different materials, the colouring of the thread is very natural and lively. The palette of 30 colours covers the entire spectrum from light to dark and delicate to strong.

Nepal is a fine/sport yarn available in skeins of 50 g with a length of 197 meters.  It is very smooth and can be easily wound into a ball. The recommended needle size is 6 US | 9-11 United Kingdom.  It's a good idea to create a measurement pattern before starting the project to get the tension you want.

Already when casting on, you can see how easily it slides on the needles. Knitting the first few rows is a very smooth process.  The yarn beautifully twisted and does not split when knitting.
Knitted in stockinette stitch results in a very nice stitch pattern and the different materials of the yarn now really come into their own. Of course, you can also knit plastic patterns with Nepal, but a knitted piece made of this great yarn does not need them at all. Maybe a top with a subtle lace pattern instead of classic cuffs? But there is also a lot of stockinette stitch fabric! And of course, the Nepal is also perfect for combining several colors. A striped sweater made of it would certainly be great!

The fibre blend in Nepal results in a light and airy knit that is very comfortable to wear directly on the skin. It is ideal for shawls or summer tops because cotton and linen allow the skin to breathe well even at high temperatures.

Nepal is a sturdy, hard wearing yarn.  Garments made with it can even be washed in the washing machine - but please use a gentle cycle!

So, would you like to try it out? You can find Nepal in our shop
