Origin
Inspired by the sensuous shine of a sapphire, our yarn Saffira is a jewel among luxury yarns! It is a wonderful blend of the highest quality merino yarn and mulberry silk.
Merino wool is highly breathable and has excellent thermoregulating properties and one of the finest and most exclusive fibres available due to its unique shine and softness. Our merino wool is of course mulesing-free and is GOTS-certified. This means that the animals are kept according to ecological standards, the working environment is safe, workers receive fair pay, and there is no child labour or excessive working hours.
The mulberry silk gives Saffira its ultimate luxurious characteristics both in look and feel. Even though Mulberry silk is a very delicate fibre it is also very strong. It is particularly smooth and soft so it can be worn directly on the skin. Silk gives Saffira its glossy touch. It also makes it strong, and supple with an excellent drape.
Thanks to its moisture-wicking properties, Saffira cools and warms simultaneously. Therefore, garments knitted with Saffira are perfect for summer and winter. It is a natural yarn that is completely bio-degradable. It is also wrinkle and tear resistant, hypo-allergenic and very easy to care for.

To compliment your knitting project and make it even more wonderful, we suggest you pair Saffira with Manada, our very special and unique blend of Mohair, Mulberry Silk, Yak and Merino fibres. By pairing these two yarns together, you will add a wonderful fluff and airy halo to your project, not to mention softness, warmth and, of course, a very particular and unique colour nuance depending on whether you use similar colours or contrasting ones to mix and match together.
We recommend washing your knitwear from Saffira by hand in lukewarm water with a mild wool detergent. Dry flat, preferably on a terry towel, to keep its shape.
Please do not dry it on a heat source or in the sun! Read more about wool care in our blogpost HERE
