Unveiling the Allure of Nepal

 Nature's Symphony in Every Hank

As the popularity of veganism surges worldwide, plant-based yarns are becoming the choice for eco-conscious crafters. Embraced for reasons ranging from environmental concerns to skin sensitivity and wool allergies, these yarns hold a significant place in our lives. Recognizing this, we proudly feature a diverse selection of high-quality, 100% natural, and sustainable plant-based yarns in our collection, with Nepal standing as a testament to our pioneering role in vegan yarn production.

In 2024, we have changed the composition of Nepal and removed the nettle to bring you a marvellous blend of 60% Organic Cotton and 40% Linen.

More than just a vegan yarn, Nepal is a symbol of sustainability and responsible manufacturing: Our journey with our Nepal yarn begins in the cotton fields of India. Here, the fibres are meticulously gathered, adhering to the rigorous ecological and social standards set by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). The linen comes from China and the processing and dyeing stages are carried out in Italy in a spinning mill with many years of experience in the manufacturing of high-quality yarns.

Thanks to a distinctive twisting technique employed during spinning, the yarn acquires a remarkable texture, introducing an additional layer of natural charm to its tactile softness.

  • Yarn Length: 50 g ~ 180 m | 1.76 oz ~ 197 yds
  • Needle: 3-4 mm | 3-6 US | 9-11 UK
  • Gauge: 28 stitches, 36 rows to 4" (10 cm)
  • Usage: Sweater in size small ~ 350 g (7 hanks)
  • Yarn Weight: 50 g | 1.76 oz ~ Hank

Trendy Year-Round

Discover the magic of Nepal, an all-season yarn designed for creating airy tops and year-round delights. Its exceptional wearing properties, made from organic cotton for breathability and linen for a delightful touch, make it ideal for knitting lightweight sweaters, chic cardigans, and stylish scarves. The yarn's feather-light texture adds joy to the knitting process and offers a delightful caress on the skin when worn.

For winter projects we recommend knitting it double stranded with our yarn Suave. A beautiful example of this blend is our pattern RANA.

Nepal can also be knitted along with mohair yarn like Manada or Mohair Bliss which will give it added softness and a fluffy, cosy halo.

Vibrant New Colours to Ignite Your Imagination

Our “new” Nepal comes in a varied spectrum of nature-inspired colours, injecting a playful charm into your projects.

Nepal with its new composition seamlessly aligns with its predecessor in terms of identical yardage, recommended needle size, and gauge. This harmonious compatibility enables you to effortlessly transition between the two yarns.  All patterns designed for our original Nepal yarn can be easily adapted to the new version without any hassle. So go ahead, find your favourite pattern and get started on your next knitting adventure!
