The alpaca fiber is a very precious fiber. In fact there are no negative characteristics by the alpaca fleece. Mother Nature has developed an ideal fiber and placed it on the gentle alpaca. A Spaniard Bernabe Cobo told us about the alpaca fibers in his book called “History of the New World (1653)”: „Alpaca,un càlido don de Dios a los Hombres“ (Alpaca is a gift of the warmth from God to people).

Baby Alpaca is softer and gentler as Alpaca and it feels very comfortable on the skin. It is an ideal yarn for very sensitive skin! No itching! The softness of the Baby Alpaca is resulting from the shearing of the alpaca cubs and not the adult animals.

This yarn is suited perfectly for the knitting of the overclothes such as pullover, cardigans, pullunder and also due to the pleasant wearing characteristic you can wear clothes with a high skin contact such as knitted scarves and caps.

Our Baby Alpaca wool is a voluminous hairy yarn which is evenly knitted and hardly splits. The knitted article holds its form and almost doesn’t pill. The alpaca wool becomes softer and fluffier after the washing and the knitting pattern is even better recognized.

It is preferable to use wooden or bamboo needles for the knitting or crocheting with our Baby Alpaca Los Andes (Wooden needles you can find under the category Handwork and Accessories).

The yarn is produced in Peru.

Care:

Wash your knitted article best by hand, handwarm, but not in the wash machine. If you use a modern eco wash machine with a wool cycle function please wash at a temperature of not more than 30°. Please use exclusively a detergent for wool and dry the article only placed lying down best to get rid of the deformations! You can also dry it on the foam plastic hangers but far away from the heat source!

Before you put on your knitted cloth for the first time wash it light rinsing in handwarm water. The loose fibers lie closer to each other this way and you reduce significantly the pilling!

Advice:

Please do not forget that every monitor has its typical colors of display what can cause color divergence with the original tinting color.

It is important that you have enough of the knitting yarn for the desired knitting model. Best of all is when you begin with the knitting right after you have received the yarn. So you can estimate if you have ordered enough of the yarn and could then immediately reorder. Furthermore you could check if there are sufficient quantities of the yarn of the same batch in stock. Please note that despite similar colors there can be differences in the colors of the yarn from the different batches.
