This fantastic natural wool of 100% yak is extremely fine and soft. The yak wool doesn’t split while knitting. It is a little fluffy but not as much as by alpaca wool, that is why it doesn’t pill neither by knitting nor by wearing. You can knit pullovers, sweatshirts, scarves, gaiter or caps very easy.
The yak wool is obtained from the fine underhair of the yak which is also called Tibetan ox. The underhair of the animal is combed out and then spun. Yak wool is similar to cashmere (soft hair of the cashmere goat). Yak wool is very light but warm at the same time.
